Band recording

Up to 6 musicians at once in the live room, each with a headphone mix and sight lines to the control room — captured live, not guessed later.

Band playing together in the live recording room

A band sounds different when everyone plays together than when you stack parts at home. The 38 m² live room at Murkiernode is built for that energy: drums, bass, guitars, keys and vocals can roll while the engineer balances and fixes issues in real time.

This service is about capturing performances, not finishing an album mix. Plan mixing and mastering separately. For time and budget, read band recording budget planning; for vocals after the live date, pair a shorter band day with the vocal booth.

How it works

  1. 01

    Briefing

Send setlist, tempos, instrument list and approach (live takes vs overdubs). We reply within 2 business days.

  2. 02

    Soundcheck

Mics, DIs, kit and headphone mixes are tuned per player. Everyone hears themselves and the ensemble before take one.

  3. 03

    Takes

We record full passes and target weak sections. The engineer logs take numbers and tempo markers for later editing.

  4. 04

    Handover

At day’s end you export multitrack stems or a session archive. Files stay online for 12 months via secure link.

Live room and control

The live room is 38 m² with treatment that balances liveness and control. The 22 m² control room looks through the window; players see when recording is rolling and when we talk. Breaks stay short and takes stay focused.

With 16 inputs and 8 headphone sends we can run up to 6 players at once. Standard mics and DIs are on hand; unusual strings, vintage amps or large percussion need a heads-up so cables and space are ready.

Recording approaches

Live takes: everyone plays the song through; we comp sections later. Suits rock, indie and jazz where interaction must stay audible.

Live bed + overdubs: rhythm section lays a foundation; solos, extra vocals or keys fit the same day or a follow-up.

Click and guide: we can run a click and guide vocal for tighter pop productions. Share tempo and meter when you book.

Band prep

Tune guitars and bass before you travel; change strings at least a day ahead so they settle. Drummers: own sticks and recently damped heads help. Bring spare strings, picks and pedal power.

If you rehearse to demos at home, send them along. Band recording budget planning helps estimate how many songs fit a half or full day — one song done well beats five half-finished.

Delivery and next steps

Default delivery is labelled WAV stems per instrument, 24-bit/48 kHz, with session name and date. Need the raw project folder for your DAW? Say so upfront — some plugins are studio-owned and cannot transfer.

Editing, tuning, drum replacement and mixing sit outside the band day. Mixing from our multitracks starts at €245 per title; stem-only delivery has its own mixing rate.

Not included

Backline hire beyond standard mics, on-location crew, catering, heavy amp transport and photography are not in the day rate. We help with loading at the door; flag heavy gear early.

Mastering and distribution are yours or via our mastering service. Cover song clearance stays with you; we are not responsible for copyright on arrangements you supply.

Adding the vocal booth

After a band take you may want whispers or doubles in the dry booth. That can follow in a vocal recording block if the schedule allows. Outline wishes via contact so we hold time without double-booking the live room.

FAQ

How many songs in a half day?

Plan two to three songs when you are well prepared and tracking live. Complex productions or many overdubs need a full day or a return visit.

Can we bring our own amps?

Yes, if volume and power are safe in the room. Share wattage and size beforehand so we reserve space and outlets.

Can we take rough mixes home?

A simple monitor mix in headphones is standard. A bounce of all tracks can fit in remaining time; a finished mix is mixing.

What if a member is ill?

Tell us as soon as you can. Within 5 days we move the date once for free; after that cancellation fees from terms and conditions apply.

Minimum age?

Participants must be at least 16, or younger with a parent or guardian present by arrangement.
