In short
- We aim for WCAG 2.1 level AA on the website and clear information before you book.
- The building is a narrow canal-house: stairs and doorways may be limiting.
- Sessions are by appointment — tell us what you need in advance and we will plan with you.
- Feedback or issues: [email protected] or +31 (0)20 214 18 52, reply within about 2 business days.
1. Scope
Murkiernode B.V. runs Murkiernode, a recording studio at Van Boetzelaerstraat 35 in Amsterdam (Westerpark). This statement covers:
- the website murkiernode.click (information, rates, contact);
- physical access to our studio by appointment;
- how we communicate about services such as vocal recording, band recording and mixing.
European accessibility rules (including the European Accessibility Act) increasingly apply to digital services; we follow those developments and update the site where needed.
2. Our accessibility goal
For the website we follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA where feasible within our static design. That includes text alternatives for images, sufficient colour contrast, keyboard operation of menus and forms, clear headings and visible focus.
We test periodically with keyboard, zoom and common screen readers. We cannot guarantee full conformance on every device, but we take reported gaps seriously.
3. What works well on the site
Pages have a single main heading, a logical heading structure and a skip link to content. Forms on contact associate labels with fields; required fields are marked. Language switch between Dutch and English is in the header. Legal pages, including privacy policy and cookie policy, are linked from the footer.
We do not autoplay session audio on the homepage, which avoids unexpected sound for sensitive users.
4. Known digital limitations
Decorative images may not carry long descriptions when they are purely atmospheric; functional photos have alt text. Some colour accents are decorative; essential information is not conveyed by colour alone.
The cookie banner is keyboard operable; focus styling may differ in older browsers. Map links to OpenStreetMap open an external site with its own accessibility.
Report a specific issue (page URL, browser, assistive tech) and we will check whether an adjustment is possible.
5. Studio building and access
Our building is a narrow Amsterdam townhouse. The entrance sits on a pavement with slight level changes; inside there are stairs to the live room and control room. There is no lift. Wheelchair users can reach the ground floor and parts of the control room by arrangement — not every setup fits every room.
Tram 13 or bus 18 to Surinameplein, then about seven minutes on foot via Van Hallstraat; bike rack next to the entrance. Opening hours: Monday to Friday 09:00–21:00, Saturday 10:00–17:00, by appointment only. On-street parking is limited; public transport is usually easiest.
We work with headphones at moderate listening levels; breaks and earplugs are available. Up to 6 musicians at once in the live room — tell us in advance if someone needs extra space or sight lines.
6. Alternatives and support
If you cannot visit in person, some services can partly run remotely: sending stems for mixing or mastering, or planning by phone or email. It depends on your project; ask via contact or read the FAQ.
Quotes and documents are sent in common formats (PDF, email). If you need another format, mention it when you enquire.
7. Feedback and enforcement
Tell us if something is missing or does not work for you. Email [email protected] or call +31 (0)20 214 18 52. We acknowledge receipt and aim for a substantive reply within 2 business days.
If you disagree with our handling and the matter concerns discrimination or access to services, you may contact the Dutch body that oversees equal treatment in your situation — for example a human-rights institution or a consumer dispute scheme where applicable. We do not name a dedicated ombudsman acting for us unless the law requires it.
